Importancia de las palabras más comunes en una lengua
Todos los idiomas están formados por palabras y cada uno de ellos tiene miles de ellas, pero afortunadamente no todas son necesarias para hablar un idioma. Es más, para poder desenvolverse bien en cualquier lengua es necesario conocer solo un buen puñado de palabras. Vamos a poner un ejemplo sobre el idioma ruso, aunque es válido para casi todas las demás lenguas.

Según estos datos, el 40% de las oraciones se forman solamente con algunas de las 75 palabras más comunes en el idioma, porcentaje que sube al 50% con 200 palabras. Con 1257 ya podemos movernos por el 70% de las oraciones. A partir de ahí hay que aprender muchas más palabras para cubrir menos porcentaje ya que dichas palabras se usan con menos frecuencia. Con unas 3000 palabras, cifra bastante asequible, ya se obtendría un manejo adecuado de la lengua para moverse en casi cualquier situación que no requiera un lenguaje especializado, siempre y cuando también se haya aprendido la gramática y se usen correctamente.
